Back-End Java Developer

Role Summary ExeQut is hiring a Backend Java Developer to join our Maryland-based team in a hybrid capacity. You will design and develop robust backend systems serving U.S. enterprise clients, collaborating with product managers, frontend engineers, and DevOps in an agile environment. This is a great opportunity for a skilled Java engineer ready to take ownership of meaningful, production-grade work. Primary Responsibilities • Design and implement RESTful APIs and backend services using Java and Spring Boot • Contribute to system architecture and design decisions with best practices in mind • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, frontend developers, and DevOps • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and sprint planning • Write clean, scalable, and well-documented code • Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to root cause analysis • Optionally support product ownership tasks such as requirement elicitation and solution scoping Qualifications & Requirements Technical Expertise • 3+ years of professional experience in backend Java development • Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot • Proven experience designing and building RESTful APIs • Solid understanding of software development best practices and architecture patterns • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship available at this time) Bonus Skills (Nice-to-Have) • Java certification(s) • Experience with Microsoft Azure • Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines Soft Skills & Work Expectations • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities • Comfortable working in a collaborative, agile team environment • U.S. Citizen/Naturalized Citizens/Permanent Residents Engagement Structure This is a contract-to-hire position. The initial one-year employment contract is through ExeQut, with the candidate working hybrid at our client's Maryland location. Conversion to a full-time role directly with the client is the anticipated outcome upon completion of the contract.
