About the position Bilingual (Spanish) - Senior Principal Relationship Management and Business Development (Remote-Eligible) The Senior Manager oversees market strategy, business development, sales, and relationship management for Network Participants in Mexico (or the Caribbean) , ensur ing goal alignment with the Global Acceptance strategy . The Senior Manager will execute long-term and short-term strategic Acceptance and Acquiring initiatives designed to increase acceptance footprint , strengthen partnerships, and grow the Discover Global Network (DGN) business. Additionally, this individual will serve as the relationship manager for multiple complex partner relationships—including Acquirers, B anks, fintechs, and payment enablers —while performing market analyses to drive acceptance. Responsibilities • Understand the payments landscape and acquiring business in the market (region) • Explore new partnership opportunities that drive acceptance and increasing market penetration • Manage client portfolio and existing relationships to retain and grow existing business and expand the acceptance footprint in the market (region) • Lead a cross-functional team with marketing, operations, product and other functional areas to support the clients, fulfill business needs, and develop initiatives • Drive internal processes including development of communications, account management, approval requests, contract negotiations, compliance and risk management • Build and maintain business development plans and marketing initiatives and drive the strategic and tactical activities to execute these plans • Negotiate favorable and profitable contracts with existing and new partners • Be the primary point of contact and work in close relationship with our partners, providing overall support, business solutions, products, and services to grow and strengthen the partnership • Ensure all Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), and governance issues are resolved • Leverage deep understanding of the competitive landscape, market trends, and performance opportunities to inform market strategy and KPI analysis across our internal cross-functional teams • Coordinate and arrange client events, sponsorships, and meetings • Client Engagement: Ability to travel 35% to meet with clients Requirements • Basic Qualifications: • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification • At least 7 years of business development, sales, marketing or relationship management experience within the payments industry • Fluent in Spanish and English Nice-to-haves • Preferred Qualifications: • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, or Marketing • Experience with payment acquiring business • Technical expertise in mobile payments, vehicle commerce, Secure Remote Commerce (SRC), payment chip technology or IOT emerging technologies • Experience executing business development across different card products and new payment technologies Benefits • This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
