Contract Writer – Gospels and Acts Commentary

Job Description: • Collaborate with a team of contributors under editorial and theological oversight • Research and write assigned portions of the Gospels and/or Acts • Provide clear, structured commentary that includes: Literary and historical context, Explanation of key theological themes, Engagement with major interpretive questions, Selective interaction with the original languages where illuminating (without becoming technical) • Articulate how each passage contributes to the revelation of Christ and the mission of the early church • Write for serious lay readers—clear and accessible, but not simplified • Address areas of theological disagreement with fairness, clarity, and ecumenical charity • Revise material in response to editorial and peer review • Ensure alignment with the organization’s doctrinal commitments • Explicit Christ-centered and redemptive-historical connections • Draw out thoughtful, textually grounded practical application for contemporary readers • Write not merely to inform, but to form aiming at spiritual transformation, worship, and deeper trust in Christ Requirements: • Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or another advanced theology degree required • Demonstrated competency in New Testament exegesis • Working knowledge of Koine Greek • A clearly articulated Christ-centered hermeneutic • Familiarity with major evangelical scholarship on the Gospels and Acts • Demonstrated capacity to engage diverse theological perspectives with humility and care • Experience in pastoral ministry, theological education, or substantive Bible teaching preferred • Ability to write clearly for educated lay readers • Comfortable collaborating within a multi-author theological project • Willingness to receive and implement substantive editorial feedback Benefits: • Participation in meetings, workshops, or collaborative sessions may be requested depending on the project timeline.
