The Michigan Gaming Control Board is a state agency dedicated to ensuring fair and honest gaming. The Departmental Analyst serves as a Human Resources Liaison, providing advice on HR issues, performing research, and facilitating agency information and special projects.
Responsibilities
- Evaluating hiring materials, consulting with and providing advice to MGCB Executives, managers and employees regarding human resources issues
- Performing research and analysis regarding human resource topics and issues, including staffing, program planning, employment background and reference checks, training, development initiatives, and policy development and implementation
- Administering and facilitating the Agency Overview, developing and maintaining various agency information and performing special projects as needed
Skills
- Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major
- Departmental Analyst 9: No specific type or amount is required
- Departmental Analyst 10: One year of professional experience
- Departmental Analyst P11: Two years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service
- Employment in the state classified service demands a high degree of loyalty and imposes high ethical standards on employees to ensure the integrity of state government and maintain effective services
- All employees must meet these ethical standards and all appointing authorities are obligated to enforce these ethical standards
- All employees are required to report any possible conflict of interest
- Candidates must confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview
- The Board conducts a personal reference screening, criminal background check, drug testing and federal and state tax transcript, including fingerprinting candidates prior to a conditional offer of employment
- Civil Service Rule 2-7 requires that all persons who are not currently state employees submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test which must be administered within 24 hours of a conditional offer or the offer may be rescinded
