Fleet Manager/Dispatcher with access to (Non Asset Based Semi Truck Carriers)

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Fleet Manager/Dispatcher who has access to a huge network of semi trucks, as well as to oversee operations involving Non-Asset Based Semi Truck Carriers. This role is vital in coordinating freight movement, optimizing transportation planning, and ensuring seamless communication across the supply chain. The ideal candidate will possess strong analysis skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of transportation management systems to drive efficiency and reliability in our logistics network. This position offers an exciting opportunity to manage a fleet without owning assets directly, focusing on strategic dispatching and carrier relationships to meet customer demands effectively. Additionally, the candidate should have access to 200 or more units of Semi Trucks: Consisting of 53 FT Dry Vans, Reefers and Flatbeds, in order to facilitate the nationwide coverage of freights we have. Responsibilities • Coordinate and dispatch freight loads using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and AS400, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries. • Communicate with carriers via multi-line phone systems, maintaining professional phone etiquette and clear communication to facilitate smooth operations. • Utilize GPS and GIS tools for route planning, tracking shipments, and optimizing delivery schedules within the supply chain framework. • Monitor shipment status, update data entry logs accurately, and manage shipping & receiving documentation to ensure data integrity. • Collaborate with 3PL providers and internal teams to coordinate freight movements, resolve issues promptly, and enhance overall logistics efficiency. • Conduct analysis of transportation data to identify opportunities for cost savings, improved routing, or service enhancements. • Maintain detailed records of dispatch activities, carrier performance, and shipment histories for reporting purposes. Experience • Proven experience in transportation management or logistics coordination within a freight or shipping environment. • Familiarity with transportation planning tools such as GIS, GPS tracking systems, and transportation management software like Oracle Transportation Management or SyteLine. • Strong understanding of supply chain processes including shipping & receiving, freight management, and fleet management principles—especially in a non-asset based carrier setting. • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities using multi-line phone systems and data entry platforms efficiently. • Excellent communication skills with professional phone etiquette; ability to collaborate effectively with carriers, internal teams, and external partners. • Analysis skills for reviewing transportation metrics and making data-driven decisions to improve operational performance. • Knowledge of 3PL logistics providers, shipping regulations, and industry best practices is preferred but not mandatory.
