R & D Engineer I

Boston Children's Hospital is a leading medical institution focused on pediatric care, and they are seeking a R & D Engineer I to develop new medical devices and technologies. The role involves designing experiments, collaborating with clinical staff, and performing statistical analysis to enhance medical device innovation.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design and develop new medical devices and technologies including surgical and catheter devices, 3D modeling and simulation techniques in collaboration with team
• Design and conduct benchtop experiments to complement and/or refine designs and validate computational modeling studies as part of the development process
• Work with cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, and nurses to obtain patient information, understand clinical need, refine the design and apply the new technologies
• Collaborate with lab staff, clinicians, and statisticians to design experiments and write protocols
• Perform statistical analysis of experimental results
• Prepare oral and written reports for presentation locally and at technical conferences and for publication in scholarly journals

Skills

• A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Computer Science is required
• A master's degree is preferred
