Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Yorktown Systems Group, Inc. (YSG) is seeking a highly qualified Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) for comprehensive Warfighter Training Support Services at the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA). The purpose of this position is to support the planning, development, execution, management, and evaluation of military training for approximately 4,200 cadets annually during both the academic year and summer training programs.
Responsibilities
- Converts Government outcomes into executable courseware, unit plans, training products, scenarios, and remediation pathways
- Conducts analytical review of existing and available Program of Instruction (POI), courseware, lesson materials, exercise scenarios, training schedules, TLOs, ELOs, primary tasks and objectives, evaluation criteria, recurring training events, historical planning products, and after-action inputs
- Connect objectives and courseware to resource requirements
- Working with USAFA and other team members to ensure courseware, planning assumptions, support resources, and evaluation requirements remain synchronized
- Assess training objectives, event scope, scenario requirements, desired warfighter behaviors and execution assumptions to determine required facilities, training areas, ranges, equipment, TADSS, instructor staffing, support staffing, transportation, sustainment, and safety resources
- Develop and maintain resource profiles for recurring, modified, and emerging scenarios
- Support objective-to-resource alignment and ensures training design remains executable within identified constraints
- Provide design, assessment, data, and digital workflow support that may be delivered through local presence, remote support, travel-supported engagement, or corporate reach-back based on mission need, talent availability, security/access requirements, and Government-approved coordination
- Embed assessment instruments within Instructional Unit Plans
- Use assessment data and other inputs to inform courseware updates, scenario refinements, remediation pathways, instructor preparation, dashboard reporting, and annual program recommendations
Skills
- Must possess 5 – 8 years' experience as an ISD practitioner
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Education, Training, Instructional Technologies, or a related field
- Requires instructional design, courseware development, scenario/lesson plan support, Moodle/TUTOR content alignment, assessment integration, and stakeholder coordination
- Demonstrated experience developing and overseeing curriculum, lesson plans, Programs of Instruction (POIs), and assessment frameworks
- Demonstrated experience supporting program evaluation, After Action Reviews (AARs), and data-driven improvement initiatives
- Experience using the ADDIE methodology for instructional design
- Must be able to obtain a SECRET security clearance
- An Instructional Systems Design (ISD) certificate is desired
