Our client, a forward-thinking agricultural enterprise based near **St. Louis, Missouri, US**, is seeking a highly qualified Senior Agronomist to lead initiatives in sustainable farming practices and crop yield optimization. This role is pivotal in driving research, development, and implementation of advanced agronomic techniques that promote environmental stewardship, enhance soil health, and improve agricultural productivity. The Senior Agronomist will work closely with farm managers, researchers, and external partners to integrate innovative and sustainable solutions across various agricultural operations. This hybrid role allows for significant field work combined with remote data analysis and strategic planning. Key responsibilities include conducting soil analysis, crop monitoring, and pest/disease assessments to develop tailored management plans. You will research, evaluate, and recommend advanced planting, fertilization, irrigation, and pest control strategies focused on sustainability and resource efficiency. The Senior Agronomist will design and oversee field trials to test new seed varieties, crop protection products, and farming technologies. Developing and implementing best practices for soil conservation, water management, and biodiversity enhancement will be central to this position. You will also be responsible for educating farm staff on sustainable practices, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) related to yield, input efficiency, and environmental impact, and generating comprehensive reports for management. Collaboration with research institutions and participation in industry forums to stay abreast of cutting-edge agricultural innovations is expected. The ideal candidate will hold a Master's degree or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Soil Science, Plant Science, or a related agricultural discipline, with a minimum of 5-7 years of practical experience in agronomic research, crop management, and sustainable agriculture practices. A strong understanding of soil chemistry, plant physiology, entomology, and pathology is essential. Proven experience with data analysis software, GIS, and precision agriculture technologies is required. Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills are necessary. Strong written and verbal communication abilities are needed to convey complex technical information effectively to diverse audiences, including farmers, scientists, and management. Experience in developing and presenting technical reports and recommendations is crucial. Familiarity with organic farming principles and certification processes is a plus.
