Job Description:
• Serve as Deputy to the Executive Director of Planning & Engineering, providing leadership continuity, operational support and decision-making authority in their absence.
• Assist the Executive Director of the P&E Division in leading technical and strategic activities, ensuring alignment of engineering strategy with corporate and project development goals.
• Serve as a liaison between Planning & Engineering, Project Development, and Corporate Finance to integrate site design, permitting, and interconnection requirements into project business cases.
• Establish and maintain engineering standards, risk assessment frameworks, and quality control protocols across all projects.
• Oversee early-stage site evaluations, constraints analyses, and conceptual layouts to inform project viability and site control decisions.
• Direct permitting strategy and coordination with local, state, and federal agencies (USACE, SHPO, USFWS, and AHJs).
• Manage consultant teams developing civil, electrical, and environmental studies; ensure deliverables meet ibV and regulatory standards.
• Advise Project Development and Corporate Finance on cost, constructability, and technical risk factors affecting project economics.
• Track engineering budgets, schedules, and progress across multiple concurrent projects; identify and mitigate risks to scope and timeline.
• Oversee technical reviews and provide recommendations for executive decision-making and investment committees.
• Oversee the development of internal reporting dashboards and process documentation to enhance visibility and accountability.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and planners to build organizational capability and technical excellence.
• Foster a collaborative, solutions-driven team culture grounded in innovation, quality, and accountability.
• Support workforce planning, recruitment, and training initiatives within the Planning & Engineering Division.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Electrical, or related Engineering field (P.E. license or PMP certification preferred)
• 8+ years of experience in renewable energy, site development, or related engineering management roles
• Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and external consultants in fast-paced, multi-project environments
• Strong understanding of permitting processes and regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions
• Advanced proficiency with GIS, CAD, and project management software; familiarity with PVSyst and other performance tools a plus
• Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills with an ability to synthesize complex technical data into actionable insights.
