[Remote] Program Coordinator 2026

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Kesem is a nationwide community supporting children through and beyond their parent's cancer with innovative programs. The Program Coordinator is a remote, junior-level position responsible for overseeing chapter programs, ensuring successful delivery of summer camp and year-round programs, and supporting college student leaders.

Responsibilities

• Conduct virtual meetings with college student leader chapter Directors to answer inquiries, monitor progress, proactively identify and help solve potential problems
• Lead chapters to execute successful fundraising plans and maintain responsible finances, including setting and adhering to chapter budgets, developing revenue plans, providing administrative support on donor records and guiding chapter annual fundraising efforts including peer-to-peer campaigns and annual events
• Support Kesem’s implementation of programs, adhering to standards, rules, policies, and aligning with our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion vision and values
• Manage student leadership transitions for chapters; select student directors (volunteers) for the chapters in your region each year
• Help achieve chapter adherence to Camp Kesem’s Operating Standards via tri-annual evaluations for each chapter
• Each summer, visit one or more of your chapters’ camp sessions to help ensure camp programming is being delivered in accordance with organizational guidelines and policies
• Review and negotiate chapter-binding contracts with guidance from a manager
• Manage other volunteers and constituents (ie, nurses, mental health professionals, and advisory board members) who will support each chapter
• Ensure chapter compliance with state laws, regulations, and any relevant licensing requirements
• Coordinate background checks and training for all attendees of camp
• Launch new camp and year-round programs according to Camp Kesem’s growth plan
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in the camping and nonprofit industry as resources are provided to you by the Operations Leadership Team
• Help to facilitate and cultivate relationships with local chapter community contacts including cancer support services, Advisory Board members, hospitals, and universities
• Support chapters in creating and executing equitable and inclusive outreach plans for both camper families and volunteers
• Serve as Hotline Operator for the camp season 24-hour Hotline
• Use Salesforce, Classy, and other applications to track chapter metrics
• Ensure chapter workbooks and internal systems are updated consistently and accurately according to expectations
• Use Hive project management system to track action items and progress toward goals
• Provide chapter progress reports to a Manager, Programs on a weekly basis
• Help chapters in your region implement provided tools and systems to efficiently manage workload
• Work in partnership with the chapter to coordinate chapter system-related activities (i.e., student reimbursement requests, Classy page requests, donor acknowledgements, etc.)
• Ensure accurate data output from chapters and regularly perform data quality control and clean up
• Each fall, visit select chapters in your region to provide on-site training. Provide virtual training to the rest of the chapters in your region
• Each spring, provide supplemental virtual spring training
• Provide year-round, remote training on how to implement Kesem’s programming and conduct fundraising (ie, updated camp programming and Giving Tuesday planning)
• Plan, organize, and present sessions for Camp Kesem’s National Leadership Summit for our student leaders

Skills

• Must be able to inspire, relate to, and lead college student volunteers
• Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
• Experience recruiting and retaining diverse teams of volunteers, conducting outreach and increasing diversity among program participants, and ensuring the delivery of equitable and inclusive programs
• Experience working in teams with people from a variety of racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, educational, religious, sexual, gender, and generational backgrounds
• Highly organized, flexible, and creative. Excellent time management skills, with the ability to switch between administrative responsibilities and relationship-based interactions with ease
• Strong technical skills including advanced use of Google Drive Suite. Ability to quickly learn and master new systems autonomously
• An orientation towards learning and development; willing to learn from mistakes, receive feedback, and give feedback to others
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Preference given to individuals with at least 1 year out of school
• Camp and/or youth development experience
• Experience managing volunteers
• Experience successfully leading peer-to-peer fundraising efforts
• Must be comfortable with frequent travel, including air travel and renting/driving vehicles as part of regular job responsibilities
• Advanced team-building skills including conflict management, problem-solving, effective communication, organizational skills, developing others, motivating others, giving direction and managerial courage
• Program development and project management experience, including experience working on large-scale projects from conception to completion. Leading remote volunteer teams is a strong plus
• Experience using camp registration or donor database systems such as Salesforce is a strong plus
• Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus
