The City of Phoenix is seeking Human Resources Aides to fill vacancies in multiple city departments. The role involves performing paraprofessional, technical, and specialized administrative work in various functional areas of human resources, including conducting background checks and managing HR records.
Responsibilities
- Processing bi-weekly payroll and human resources transactions
- Preparing paperwork for new hire onboarding, transfers, promotions, demotions, leave of absence, retirements, and other separations
- Managing employee leave and conducting leave analysis
- Monitoring and processing Performance/Salary Review due dates to ensure salary increases are processed timely and in accordance with Memoranda of Understanding/Memoranda of Agreement (MOU/MOA) requirements
- Performing routine audits
Skills
- Two years of college majoring in public or human resources administration, industrial relations, psychology, or a related field
- One year of experience as a human resources or administrative clerk
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted
- All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position
- Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage
- Interpreting and explaining rules and regulations pertaining to human resources, payroll, and leave issues
- Providing high levels of customer service in person, over the phone, and using email
- Processing and maintaining personnel transactions
- Processing payroll for a large base (400 plus) in a 24-hour/7-day operation
- Processing, maintaining, and auditing confidential documents
